Tividale on the BCN.
Moving outside from where last night’s photograph was taken, this is the wide expanse of the Birmingham Old Main Line. As you can see, this canal meanders around slightly. The New Main Line, which runs parallel (to the right of shot) and three locks down is, by comparison, dead straight. With its modern housing, wide expanse of water with trees and lighting, Tividale presents a very attractive scene.
The junction into the Quays of yesterday’s photograph is in the distance on the left. From a Twitter debate on the shot, it would appear that this was NOT the site of Dudley Port Basin after all. However, it is still evidence that a modern housing development can be made to fit in with historic canal infrastructure and create a scene of beauty!
