Bournemouth Town Hall.
In 1921, the council moved into the current Bournemouth Town Hall. It was originally built in 1885 as the Mont Dore Hotel, one of the earliest hotels in what was then a young up and coming seaside settlement.
However, the onset of the First World War saw the building requisitioned as a military hospital in 1914. It was never to return to being a hotel, being purchased by the Town Council to become its new Town Hall.
It has been extended over the years, but the building still retains many original features. It was listed Grade II on 11 December 2001.
Today’s photograph was taken on a day when we returned to the town to deal with a family matter. The weather was far from pleasant – being both wet and cold.
