Looking underneath Bridge 45.
It’s not often the phone camera is used for this blog. However, today I took the Olympus out on a walk, but discovered I had left the SD card in the laptop! So, this shot looking underneath Bridge 45 on the Grand Union Canal between Warwick and Leamington Spa is courtesy of my phone. What had initially caught my attention was the metal posts. These have been installed to protect the brickwork from the damage that the ropes between the horse and boat cause. The grooves can clearly be seen on the closest post. It is amazing that this much damage can be inflicted just by a rope.
I have chosen to convert this shot of Bridge 45 to mono, as it creates more atmosphere. With the exception of the electricity pylon just visible in the distance, this image could have been taken at any time. Just goes to show how our canal system is living history.
