Nesting Coot.
Once again, our favourite mooring has given the opportunity for a photograph. There is so much wildlife round here, it is difficult to know what to choose!
We noticed this coot yesterday, swimming along with a long reed in her beak. She got a couple more today. Of course, by the time I had got my camera out and was organised, she had settled down on her nest.
The nest is well hidden, but I did eventually spot her on it. She even poked her nose out as I was aiming to take the shot. I have used a higher than normal ISO so I could get a faster shutter speed. It is a big, heavy lens and, especially with the converter, there is the danger of camera shake.
I have also cropped the photograph, so that the coot is more visible.
