Former Ahronsberg Brothers Factory

Ahronsberg Brothers

Ahronsberg Brothers: Former facility in Summer Hill Road, Birmingham.

Former facility in Summer Hill Road, Birmingham.

The Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham has a large collection of former factories. This one was for the Ahronsberg Brothers, Goldsmiths and Jewellers. The brothers, Judah, Albert & Lionel, originally set up round the corner in Albion Street. The company dates back to 1891. By 1916, they had changed their name to Albury Brothers, so this building in Summer Hill Road must predate that change.

Sadly, this fine building is now, like many others in the area, derelict.

    Hi Tim,
Any further information regarding this building? My great uncles were the 3 brothers.
We visited the building yesterday & took the same photos as yourself but intrigued to know who might own it now.
    Best regards,
    John.

      Hi John –

Unfortunately, I know no more than I’ve manage to glean off the internet! Thought it a rather glorious building with a lot of potential… I believe it should be possible to get the details of the current owners from the Land Registry for a small payment.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
      Tim

Hi I worked at Albury Bros. In the eighties, My boss was Michael Albury, his father was Lionel, and his mother was Patricia, Michael had a sister called Judith who was just a share holder in the business, Michael was the one who managed the jewellery business, I enjoyed my time working here, I would love to know more about the history of the family, and the building.
