Houses of Parliament from above.
We stayed in London overnight, at a Premier Inn Hub. Wonderful concept, and so cheap! Today, we were sightseers. We went on the London Eye, and I got this shot of the Houses of Parliament.
This was after we went on the Duck Tour. Glad we did that, as we understand this is to cease in September! (View Article). Utter disgrace, but that’s another story.
It would have been rude not to go on the London Eye. The lighting wasn’t brilliant, but it is a wonderful opportunity to view and photograph London from above.
Naturally, I took many shots on “the flight”. As we were descending, the lighting changed, and created this superb effect on the Houses of Parliament. The shot is slightly marred by the reflections on the glass of the pod, but I just love the way this historic building is highlighted in the warm light.
“Big Ben”, more correctly known as the Elizabeth Tower, is just being covered for its 4-year restoration project. Other parts of the Palace of Westminster are also under wraps for work. Curiously, apart from a good number of pedestrians, Westminster Bridge is unusually bereft of traffic.
