The Kennet and Avon Canal at Dusk.
Back to the big camera tonight. Down on the Kennet and Avon Canal in the heart of Newbury. Looking towards the Town Bridge, but this time from the other side.
I had deliberately headed down to catch the “Blue Hour”. Although it was fairly cloudy, as I’ve commented before, the clouds do take on this wonderful blue colour at dusk.
This view of the Kennet and Avon Canal works well. The towpath is lit by artificial light, but there is still enough light to see everything else clearly. Although the water looks as smooth as glass, there is actually quite a strong flow here.
I have kept the aperture small so as to maximise the length of time the shutter is open. Normally, this would create starring from the lights. However, the one that is most visible is partially obscured by a tree, and the nearest one wasn’t working!
If you look through the bridge, you can just see the outline of Newbury Town Lock. This was where I took the previous photograph of the bridge.
