Orchestra Pit.
We have been to see “Legally Blonde” today. A performance by the Hinchley Manor Operatic Society. Our daughter, Debbi, was the lead keyboard in the Orchestra Pit.
Hidden from view, but making a significant contribution to the performance. It’s all very technological, too. The keyboard is plugged into a MIDI interface (the box you can see balanced on the end of the keyboard), which is then plugged into the laptop – from which (apparently) the sound emanates. All very clever.
Of course, I had to wait until the end of the show. Photography isn’t normally allowed. Certainly not during the performance. At least, afterwards, we were able to pose the shot. Looking down from the front of the stalls using available light. A very high ISO to compensate. Although, for this type of shot, graininess adds to the atmosphere.
We can remember her saying she wanted to be in the orchestra in a theatre orchestra pit. A dream realised! Although her instrument of choice then was the clarinet.
