Northcroft Park, Newbury.
A different look at our favourite mooring by Northcroft Park, Newbury. Taken after dark, with a 5 minute exposure. Even after 10 o’clock at night, there is still some colour in the sky.
Shots like this are fascinating to take. It is too dark for the human eye to see anything. However, the camera will pick up the image over time. A little bit of tweaking is required in Photoshop to balance out the difference in light between the sky and the ground.
With this lighting, something of an eerie scene is created. The sky almost looks as if it were daytime. The subdued colours of the grass and trees, plus the visible artificial lighting, tells you otherwise.
You can just see our boat in the bottom right-hand corner. The lights centre left, are from the Leisure Centre. Northcroft Park has one of the oldest – and biggest – outdoor Lidos in the country.
