Tulip.
Today, celebrating spring, is a photograph of a tulip growing in the flower box on our boat roof. I have captured this against the background of the trees on the other side of the canal.
The combination of the telephoto lens and wide aperture has blurred the background to almost a plain colour. This gives a bit of interest, without the distraction of being able to see what was behind the subject.
There are a few tulips in the box, along with some winter pansies, which are also doing very well. With the hint of sun, this has just lifted the colours in the flower.
For comparison purposes, I have also taken a similar shot with my Olympus Camera. The latter was much easier to handle! From the same distance, even though this is only a 150mm lens, the tulip has filled the frame much more. The most noticeable difference is that the background is slightly less blurred. This is due to the narrower aperture on the Olympus.
I will let you judge which is the better image…
