The Chubb Building.
Dating back to 1899, this landmark building is rightfully Grade II Listed. It has a unique angular design and is also unusual for its height as a Victorian manufacturing and warehousing facility. Its prominent position means it is clearly visible from all around. An early extension has been complemented by a more modern one creating an atrium area. Falling empty in the 1960s, The Chubb Building was refurbished in the 1970s.
It is now home to several media companies, a restaurant, pub, and cinema, as well as a number of other businesses. The building site to the left will house a modern version once it is built – hopefully this will complete the scene and not over power. The empty ring road in the foreground is the sign of the times!
