Tree Silhouette Sunset.
It makes a pleasant change to be in the right place at the right time! Very shortly after we had moored up tonight, the sky was a blaze of colour, and I managed to capture this Tree Silhouette against it.
This wasn’t where we had planned to stop. The original spot was further back, but someone else had got there first. However, if we had stopped there, I would not have been able to capture this image.
We are right by an open field, with a bit of a slope, as you can see! Shooting directly into where the sun had just sunk, in order to get the sky exposed correctly, the foreground ends up almost black.
Ordinarily, I would have done some editing to restore the balance. However, I was taken by this solitary tree silhouette. I realised that this was the essence of what I wanted to capture. I therefore pointed the camera upwards to get just enough black land to balance the rest of the image.
